Gjovalin Zhivanaj accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior 24 years ago and soon developed a strong desire to serve God and share the Gospel with others. After completing several years of Bible school and additional ministry training, Gjovalin has faithfully served as a pastor for the past 13 years. His ministry experience includes leading churches in Tirane and Durrës, helping plant four additional churches, teaching in Bible schools, and preaching in churches throughout Albania. Even after the community of his former church in Tirana was dispersed as families relocated, God continued to place a desire in Gjovalin’s heart to plant churches and reach people with His Word. He has already begun evangelistic outreach and children’s ministry in Administrative Unit No. 8 of Tirana, where he believes God is now leading him to plant Besa Church. Gjovalin’s vision is to build a Gospel-centered church where children, families, and individuals can come to Christ, grow through discipleship, develop as leaders, and become equipped to share the Gospel throughout Tirana and beyond.

As a minority religion in Albania, Christians often face challenges in practicing their faith openly, making the presence of churches vital for maintaining their religious identity and fostering a sense of belonging. These churches not only offer a space for worship and prayer but also serve as centers for education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid, particularly in remote and marginalized areas where government resources may be limited. Furthermore, Christian churches promote interfaith dialogue and understanding, contributing to the overall diversity and harmony of Albania's religious landscape. In a nation marked by religious plurality, the existence of Christian churches underscores the importance of tolerance, acceptance, and freedom of religion for all citizens.
