Journey Church Friends and Family, We are overwhelmed with joy because of the way you answered the call on our first Rescue Sunday! Your participation is essential as we partner with Expect Hope to rescue children in The Philippines. It is now our mission as a church to become a beacon of light for these children and this community. This mission doesn't stop with sponsorship as we have already started working on a group missions trip to The Philippines. This could give you an opportunity meet your sponsored child. Dear Church Family,One of the greatest opportunities we have as Christians is to partner together in ministry. Our mission tolove God, love others, and serve the world, is not just a calling on us as a church, but as individuals tostep into obedience by finding ways to bless others; so that they might receive and preach the gospel ofChrist!The Bible tells us in James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God the father is this; to look after theorphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world." This is a very clearcall for us to be involved with the safe keeping of orphans and widows. Whether that be through our ownworks, through partnership or both!It's no secret that over the past several years the Philippines has had many challenging issues specificallydue to the organized crime, corruption and migration of refugees from all over Asia. This has created abreeding ground for injustice against children. Everyday there are tens of thousands of children who aresubject to human trafficking, gang slavery, extreme poverty, abandonment and risk of death.For many years we have been blessed to have relationship with an amazing organization named ExpectHope who is currently working in the nation of Mexico with some of the most at risk children in thecountry. By partnering with Expect Hope, New Albany First will have the opportunity to make a directimpact on an entire community of children in need, not only by teaching them about Jesus, but supplyingtheir need for food, clothing, shelter, access to health care and love.Expect Hope allows us the chance, through generosity, to take care of those who are closest to the heartof the Lord, the widowed and orphaned. This will open up paths so that we might make the trip ourselves,to look in the eyes of the children whom we are protecting through our obedience in prayer and giving.I invite you to join me for a special day we are calling Rescue Sunday on September 22, 2024. This will bea special day of inspiration, purpose, and celebration as we choose children to sponsor and change theirlives forever.
