 Angelyn is 13 years old. She lives with her parents and sister. Her father is a rubber tapper, which is extremely labor intensive and very little pay. Her mother stays home to care for the family. When Angelyn grows up she wants to become a police officer. 

Angelyn lives in the area of Kabasalan on the island of Mindanao in the southern part of the Philippines. This region struggles greatly with extreme poverty. The burden this extreme poverty puts on a family is simply overwhelming, consequently many of the children are forced to work and help financially support the family as a child laborer. This is just one tragic outcome as the children here are also highly susceptible to child trafficking, gang enslavement and starvation.
