Klina is 11 years old and in the 5th grade. She lives with her parents and three siblings. Her father provides for the family by means of vendoring quail eggs at bus stops. Her dream is to finish her studies and become a nurse someday. Klina lives in the area of Kabasalan on the island of Mindanao in the southern part of the Philippines. This region struggles greatly with extreme poverty. The burden this extreme poverty puts a family is simply overwhelming, consequently many of the children are forced to work and help financially support the family as a child laborer. This is just one tragic outcome as the children here are also highly susceptible to child trafficking, gang enslavement and starvation.
