Santiliano lives with his family of seven members; his grandparents, parents and two siblings. Their house only has two small rooms and a small kitchen. His father is the only one who works but that salary he brings home is only enough for food and some medications for one of the grandparents. Due to their financial situation the children have often been going hungry, in need of clothing and other basic needs. It is foreign thinking for them to have a toy or dessert such as ice cream. With the family's lack of money, Santiliano hasn't been able to get a necessary check up with the oculist since he wears glasses.
